Sikh youth club

SUPPORTING OUR FUTURE

Ever since the Youth Sevadars of Sri Guru HarGobind Sahib Gurdwara Sahib Dartford told us about their plans to start a youth club for secondary school children we have been eager to be part of the Seva. With Vaheguru Ji’s blessing, in February 2023 the first youth club took place and continues to do so on the last Friday of every month.

Children spend a couple of hours in the evening at the Gurdwara Sahib where they can play pool, table tennis, Nintendo wii and other games. They are given the chance to mingle with their friends and to make new ones. A guest speaker holds a session on a Sikhi, social or safeguarding topic or involves them in a practical activity, to help them evolve in their everyday lives.

The aim of the Sikh Youth Club is to help our next generation to feel welcome into the Gurdwaras, to build their own Sangat/ support network, to develop their personalities and social awareness, to realise they have support from their seniors in their local Sangat and to expose them to their rich history and cultural inheritance.
